Try all the foods excellent in all aspects. the steaks just melt. The pastry chef must sleep with pride each day, he loves his profession. All the staff are the best. Nothing too much trouble" |

 |
Elizabeth and Andy Coleman with La Barbarie’s
"Diners Vote Restaurant of the Year Award" |
The hospitality and catering industry celebrated in style at their annual awards dinner, on Monday 26th April. The event recognises and celebrates food expertise in Guernsey.
Good Food Guernsey rewarded the excellence of the industry with a lavish black-tie awards ceremony at The Farmhouse.
Mr. Steve Scuffell, a regular visitor to the island, judged the Chef of the Year competition on behalf of the UK’s Craft Guild of Chefs, and commended the high standards of professional cooking. , Pupils and staff from Guernsey’s College of Further Education cooked and served dinner at the event. And 2010 Hotelier of the Year, Managing Director of Red Carnations Group and former St Pierre Park Hotel Manager Jonathan Raggett was the guest speaker.
During the evening René Bisson of the Pavilion received the Chef of the Year award and his colleague Tony Leck was honoured with a special award for his services and dedication to the catering industry over the years. Josh Phillips of the OGH won the Junior Chef of the Year.
Grub & Gastro also announced their winners. La Barbarie Hotel scooped the ‘Diners Vote’ Restaurant of the Year award |

. . . and finally, Baby News |
No Andy has not been taking time or anything else off!
It is with great excitement that we announce the pending arrival of Baby Kacur.
Head Receptionist Ilze and her Husband Janis (Maintenance Man, no not the Blue Overall Bearded one, the young handsome one!) are looking forward to their first child and bless them they timed the arrival for the end of October, just as we close for the winter!
So here’s your chance to wet the baby’s head!
Guess the Sex and Weight of the bonny new arrival and we will give the winner a bottle of Champagne on your next visit! Email answers to andy.barbarie@guernsey.net
Winners of the last Competition (Name the Funny Faces!) are Neal and Linda Putnam. Well done and the bubbly is on ice. |
