Tanks, Plungers, Stop Cocks and Dynamic Pressure it’s been an interesting Winter!!!
Our relentless programme of investment continued and we took the plunge and are pleased to say that the plumbing has been completed and duly noticed by our guests. As Mrs Buxton said ”Wow! I didn't expect that” referring to the power shower that caught her out and resulted in a floor mopping exercise!

No such problem for Mr and Mrs Wood in Room 14 as they enjoyed the wet room style walk in shower! (see below)

In addition to the plumbing we also raided the budget to refurbish another 4 standard rooms, and I hope you agree that they look proper posh!

Stay an extra night - on the house!
So spring sprung and snows came, but
now we're bathed in fantastic warm sunshine (ok, we will be soon).

An audience with . . . a hat!
Revelations - An interview with Ravis Strelkovs Head Waiter and Wine Guru

Describe a typical work week for you.

I wouldn't say there was a typical one. They are all kind of erratic and unpredictable. I just try and keep out of Mr Coleman’s way.

What was your first job?

I was a vision technician . . . I think you call them window cleaners.

Why did you come to Guernsey?

Well I heard about all these green? Glass houses so, though it paned me to leave home, I had to follow my dream.

What other jobs have you done?

I worked in a travelling Circus as a trainee Latvian Morris Dancer; I love all the bells and whistles.

What other job would you have liked?

I wouldn't want this to be made public but I always had this fantasy to be an Oirish Leprechaun I applied but they said I was too tall with my hat on.

How did your love of wine develop?

Well it’s been fermenting in me for a while and the boss took me to a wine tasting (good job I wasn't driving) and it really went from there. Let’s just say Wine: It's why I get out of bed every afternoon. I also lock up my wine in a cabernet.

Who would be your perfect dinner partner(s)?

I have made so many friends working at this fabulous hotel (he told me to say that) but I think a great table would be with Mr Nigel Ward (top bloke from Yorkshire) Louise (one of our fantastic wine suppliers) Marian Pahars a great Latvian footballer who played for Southampton and of course that other great footballer (he told me to say that as well) Andy Coleman (he might pick up the tab!).
Spot The Difference
(no, it's not a competition)
Finally my thanks to Mr Hughes who sent me the following pictures Room 16 in 1964 (I was only 4)

I thought a before and after of the room might be appropriate. I just love the sailing boat wallpaper.
Television After Dinner Only

Mr Hughes also passed
on this hotel information
leaflet which makes for
interesting reading.
